Basketball center Caitlin Bopp '09 signs with Rider

Caitlin Bopp '09 recently signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to play basketball at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

The 6' 3" center, pictured above with IND varsity basketball coach Mr. Jeff Hargrave and her parents, has been a key player for the Institute of Notre Dame, averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds per game. Caitlin dominates the court with more than 70 steals and 100 blocked shots in her IND career thus far.

Caitlin was listed on espn.com as one of the nation's top high school centers and was recruited by more than 40 Division I colleges to play basketball, making an impression on scouting coaches at AAU Nationals in Ohio this past summer. After Nationals with her AAU team, the Lady Lions, Rider University contacted Caitlin and the recruiting began.

"Right now, I am relieved because all of my friends are going through the application process," Caitlin says. "Summer was crazy with tournaments, but it was worth it."

Caitlin was pleasantly surprised by Rider's offer. The humble honor roll student will receive a full scholarship to attend the school and play basketball. But for now, Caitlin is focused on IND's varsity basketball season and making the most of her senior year.
