IND offers young women many opportunities to grow and excel throughout their high school experience. Students are encouraged to get involved in their school community beyond the classroom.

Athletics
The athletic program at IND offers opportunity to build character, teamwork and leadership skills. Under the guidance of our award-winning coaches, the program has produced championship seasons for many of our teams.

IND offers 14 sports and has 20 athletic teams. The INDians belong to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) and also compete against other private and public schools. Varsity and junior varsity levels allow students of varying skills to participate. All participants are scholar-athletes and are expected to maintain high academic records in and out of season.

Christian Service
IND's Christian Service Program enables students to give freely in service to the school, church, and community. It encourages students to select projects that are outside their comfort zones as well as ones that complement IND's mission of service to heal the local community. Each student must perform a minimum of 20 hours of service by the end of each academic year. A total of 80 hours is required for graduation.

Extracurricular Activities
Complementing the arts and athletics programs, IND’s extracurricular activities provide another forum for students to become involved in their community and school, expand their intellectual horizons, and gain self-confidence. Being a part of these activities adds to the overall development of our young women, giving them the skills to take on any future challenges they may face.

Fine and Performing Arts
The fine and performing arts programs at IND are an important component in the growth and development our students. The programs provide the opportunity for participation in drama, music, voice and art.
Performing arts courses enhance creativity, discipline, social skills, and critical thinking.

IND offers introductory classes in theatre arts, choral performance, stagecraft, piano and guitar. Advanced performing arts classes include theatre arts, select choir, and accompanying.

IND annually produces two full-length stage productions: a fall play and a spring musical. Students not only perform in these productions but also design scenery, sew costumes, choreograph, and act as stage managers.

Fine arts develop and enhance the talent of our students. Classes are offered in general and advanced art, design, drawing and studio. Two art shows a year allow students to showcase their work.

Mentorship Programs
The school also provides valuable mentorship programs in order to encourage our students to pursue college and explore future careers. IND’s location in the heart of Baltimore City is particularly advantageous for students seeking mentorship in a wide range of potential career options. Among these opportunities is a mentorship program in conjunction with Johns Hopkins Medicine called Building Our Neighborhood Dreams Beyond Our Neighbor’s Door (BOND to BOND). The program seeks to provide guidance and leadership for students who desire a career in the health care industry and showcases both clinical and non-clinical experiences.

Youth Ministry
Youth Ministry offers programs and services for students and faculty to promote spiritual development. Students are invited to participate as peer ministers, conducting retreat days and planning and implementing Liturgical and Paraliturgical services. The school chapel is available for these services as well as for personal prayer.
