IND Scholarships

Onyx and Gold Scholarships
 
Five awarded annually
Amount: Full tuition for four years
Description: Granted to students who demonstrate the highest academic achievement, moral values, and future promise. Applicants must show a genuine interest in attending the Institute of Notre Dame, excel academically at school and in the High School Placement Test (90% and above on the HSPT), demonstrate leadership qualities, and have participated regularly in church and/or community service/activities.  
Recipient: Incoming 9th grade students
Renewable: Every year while on good academic and disciplinary standing (Qualified applicants will be sent specific scholarship guidelines).
Extra Application: YES- All must complete the additional application (requires essay and two letters of recommendation). Qualified applicants will be invited to interview with the Scholarship Committee. 
  
Virtus et Scientia Scholarships
 
Five awarded annually
Amount: Half tuition for four years
Description: Granted to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, moral values, and future promise. Applicants must show a genuine interest in attending the Institute of Notre Dame, excel academically at school and in the High School Placement Test (90% and above on the HSPT), demonstrate leadership qualities, and have participated regularly in church and/or community service/activities. 
Recipient: Incoming 9th grade students
Renewable: Every year while on good academic and disciplinary standing (Qualified applicants will be sent specific scholarship guidelines).

Theresian Academic Awards
 
Amount: $5,000 for four years
Description: Granted to students who receive a 90% or above on the High School Placement Test and have a strong academic, and behavior record. These scholarships are granted to students who are recognized as highly talented and deserving students who do not receive an Onyx & Gold or Virtus et Scientia Scholarship.
Recipient: Incoming 9th grade students 
Renewable: Every year, provided student continues to meet the Theresian Scholarship required GPA and course requirements, and is in good disciplinary standing (Qualified applicants will be sent specific scholarship guidelines)
Extra Application: No. Students who meet the guidelines are automatically considered. Qualified applicants will be invited for an interview with the Scholarship Committee.
 
Additional Academic Awards
 
Academic Scholarship Criteria
Applicants who wish to be considered for these awards must:
  • Receive an overall score of 60-99% on the High School Placement Test (HSPT)
  • Receive all As and Bs in 6-8th grade
  • Have solid attendance, effort, and conduct marks in 6-8th grade
 
Requirements to Maintain Awards:
  • Must earn an 80% or higher final grade in all subjects. If a student earns a final grade below an 80%, her academic scholarship will not be renewed for the following year.
  • Participate in at least one club or sport per year.
  • Remain in good disciplinary standing.
Amount: $3,500 
Description: Granted to students who receive 80-89% or above on the High School Placement Test and have a solid academic, and behavior record.
Recipient: Incoming 9th grade students
Renewable: Every year while on good academic and disciplinary standing
Extra Application: No. Students who meet the guidelines are automatically considered.
 
Amount: $2,000 
Description: Granted to students who receive 70-79% or above on the High School Placement Test and have a solid academic, and behavior record.  
Recipient: Incoming 9th grade students
Renewable: Every year while on good academic and disciplinary standing
Extra Application: No. Students who meet the guidelines are automatically considered. 
 
Amount: $1,000 
Description: Granted to students who receive 60-69% or above on the High School Placement Test and have a solid academic, and behavior record.

Athletic Awards

Amount: Vary according to talent
Description: Granted to students who excel in athletics, have a good academic record, and solid HSPT score. Preference will be given to students who play more than one sport at a high level and/or sports played at IND.
Recipient: Incoming 9th grade students
Renewable: Every year while on good academic and disciplinary standing. Student must continue to play a varsity sport to maintain the scholarship.
Extra Application: YES- All must complete additional application materials and submit all required documents by the deadline of January 15 to be considered (Personal statement and two letters of recommendation). Qualified applicants will be invited to interview with the Scholarship Committee.

Art Awards

Amount: Vary according to talent
Description: Granted to students who excel in the arts (theatre, singing, dancing, visual or performing arts), have a good academic record and solid HSPT score.
Recipient: Incoming 9th grade students
Renewable: Every year while on good academic and disciplinary standing
Extra Application: Yes- All must complete additional application materials and submit all required documents/recordings, etc…by the deadline of January 15 to be considered. A personal statement, two letters of recommendation,P audition, digital copy of performance, or visual art pieces must be submitted as part of the application. Qualified applicants will be invited to interview with the Scholarship Committee.

  • Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship

    Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship identifies exceptionally gifted middle school students who exhibit advanced intellectual talent and have the ability to demonstrate academic and personal excellence. These exceptional students are granted a scholarship to a high school where they can actualize their intellectual and personal potential. Learn more here.
  • The Carson Scholars Fund

    The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. An interested student must be nominated by the principal at his or her school to be able to compete for a Carson Scholarship. Only one student from each school is able to apply. Carson Scholars must have a GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. Learn more here.
  • The Marion Burk Knott Scholarship Fund

    The Marion Burk Knott Scholarship Fund awards four-year, full-tuition scholarships each year to Catholic students entering high school who excel in academics. Learn more here.

    The Gary Lee Ryon Jr. Memorial Foundation awards scholarships to 8th-grade students entering a Catholic high school in the Archdioceses of Washington and Baltimore. Learn more here.
  • Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarship Fund

    Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarship Fund honors the memory of two sisters who died tragically in a tornado by awarding $2,000 scholarships to the incoming freshman children of teachers or administrators in Archdiocesan schools. Learn more at here.
