Leadership History

Blessed Theresa’s call to action on a new continent began a long line of visionary women dedicated to educating girls who would become a strong Christian influence in their families and transforming agents in the world.
Unafraid of hard work and undaunted by opposition, Mother Caroline Friess continued this work in North America, and the legacy of the School Sisters of Notre Dame endures at 901 Aisquith Street. The five School Sisters who came to Baltimore in 1847 probably had no idea that their commitment would result in the establishment of a school that has served this community for more than 170 years.
