    Communication, teamwork, problem-solving.

IND students help to create a positive atmosphere as they encouraged reflection on the 7th-8th-grade mediation program at St. Joseph Fullerton.
IND was terrific, as they connected the themes of communication, teamwork, problem-solving and trust. Way to go IND showing true skills of a conflict mediator. #indofmd

  • Sr. Hildie Student Support Fund

As we grieve as a community with the loss of our dear Sr. Hildie, we are also charged with the responsibility of honoring her memory and all that she meant to IND. Naturally, we want to honor the wishes of her family and be respectful to her SSND community, while addressing the magnitude of love and outpouring of support we have seen over the past few days.

As a community we kept coming back to one thing – the girls. There was nothing that meant more to Sr Hildie than the girls that graced these halls year after year. She was their confidant, biggest cheerleader, cherished friend and dear mentor.

Therefore, following her example and honoring her acts of kindness too numerous to count, we have created the Sr. Hildie Student Support Fund. Along with financial aid, the Sr. Hildie Student Support Fund will help with extracurricular expenses that Sr. Hildie was always quick to help with, such as class rings, fees for dances, athletic fees, and graduation dresses – just to name a few.
Contributions may be made to the Sr. Hildie Student Support Fund c/o Institute of Notre Dame, 901 Aisquith Street, Baltimore, MD 21202 or securely online.

  • The Legacy

When I die, give what is left of me to children.
If you need to cry, cry for your brothers
    walking beside you.
Put your arms around anyone and give them
what you need to give to me.
I want to leave you with something,
something better than words or sounds.
Look for me in people I have known and
And if you cannot live without me, then let me
live on in your eyes, your mind, and your acts
    of kindness.
You can love me most by letting hands touch
hands and letting go of children that need to
be free. Love does not die, people do.
So when all that is left of me is love…
    Give me away…

    In memory of
    Sister Hilda Marie Sutherland, SSND

  • Forensic Science Shoe Impressions

IND’s Forensic class followed in the footsteps of an actual forensic technician with a professional field technique where they cast shoe impressions. The cast was made of a shoe impression by pressing their foot into dirt or soil and pouring in a prepared casting material. After removal, the foam retains a detailed footprint impression, which they stored in a cardboard container. Great keepsake of their shoe impression that is similar to that of a crime scene technician. So cool IND! #indofmd
