National Merit Scholarship Program Honors IND Senior

The Institute of Notre Dame is proud to announce that senior Mickella Harris ’20 has been named a Commended Student in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Assistant Head of School for Academics Lisa Wetzel made the announcement and certificate presentation earlier this week. Harris received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program.
This year approximately 34,000 Commended Students across the United States were recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered this year’s competition by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“It is no surprise that Mickella made this list,” said Wetzel. “From our teachers, to our college counselors, to our administration, IND prepares its girls for academic success.”
Long known for its rigorous academics, IND boasts a 100% college acceptance rate to some of the nation’s most highly sought after and recognized colleges and universities. In addition, IND students receive millions of dollars annually in college scholarships.
As for Mickella, she is still deciding where she will attend college next fall. In the meantime, she is focused on maintaining her academics and being part of the IND swim team.
